Harmsworth appointed to IT Project Oversight and Budgeting Task Force

Rep. Mark Harmsworth, R-Mill Creek, has been appointed to the legislative IT Project Oversight and Budgeting Task Force by House Republican Leader Dan Kristiansen, R-Snohomish. Harmsworth joins the chairs and ranking members of the House Appropriations Committee and Senate Ways and Means Committee on the task force.
The task force was created in the operating budget signed into law this year. It is responsible for reviewing current IT project development, oversight and budgeting processes as well as reviewing options to increase enterprise-wide IT solutions, improve project development, and alternatives to better integrate development and oversight with budget processes. It is also instructed to consider options such as a separate IT budget within the overall operating budget, or other long-term budget planning processes.
“Working in the technology industry for many years, I understand the need to improve IT project development and oversight in Washington,” said Harmsworth. “I am honored to have been chosen to serve on the task force, and am looking forward to working on ways to make budgeting for IT spending more efficient.”
The task force is to report on any findings and recommendations to the appropriate House and Senate committees by December 2015.
