Rep. Mark Harmsworth sworn in to office
Rep. Mark Harmsworth, R-Mill Creek, became the newest member of the state legislature today.
Harmsworth, who represents the 44th Legislative District, was sworn in to office by Snohomish County Superior Court Judge George Appel at the county courthouse in Everett. He took office ahead of the usual Jan. 12 swearing-in date because the current seat-holder was a temporary appointment.
“I'm honored to be serving the people of the 44th District,” said Harmsworth. “By starting early, I can hit the ground running when the legislative session starts in January.
“My job is to be a voice and an advocate for the people I represent. With that in mind, I've been reaching out to people in the community to assess their needs and priorities. It's all about what I can do for them on issues like transportation, education and creating new jobs – issues I heard about frequently on the campaign trail.
“I encourage everyone to keep in touch with me and consider me a resource if they have any questions, comments or concerns about state government. I am here to be of service.”
